Greetings everyone! I am joining the world of blogging. Primarily I will be blogging about the hardware/firmware interface but I will also blog beyond that into other areas of embedded system products and design.
I am an embedded systems consultant specializing in the hardware/firmware interface. I have expertise in how to design ASICs, FPGA, ASSPs, and SoCs to improve integration with firmware and to reduce the number of $1,000,000 silicon respins. I founded Gary Stringham & Associates to promote and teach these concepts.
I have bachelors and masters in electrical engineering but have been doing software/firmware most of my 25-year career. For several years I wrote low-level code that interfaced closely with hardware. I encountered many problems, issues, and challenges along the way which led me to develop and refine these concepts. I now promote these concepts to help others avoid expensive silicon respins and hardware/firmware integration delays.
I write monthly newsletters and will post them here starting with the back issues. I have written a book and will comment occasionally about it. I will announce conferences that I will be involved with — either attending, presenting, or otherwise participating. If any of you will be attending the same conference and wish to meet, let me know.
I look forward to this new adventure as another vehicle to interact with others on this and related topics.
